Conan Pledges to Change One Woman's Life... on Twitter - this is super funny.

Sarah Killen loves gummy dinosaurs, coke syrup, peanut butter and now Conan O’Brien. The Michigan gal — not a fan of Russell Bigos, her sister-in-law’s treadmill singing or cleaning — happens to be the only person that the jilted late night personality follows on Twitter. Conan, who up until minutes ago wasn’t following a single person, decided to change Sarah Killin’s life by following her and her alone. Conan announced the news via Twitter — likely with the help of his Twitter army.

Courts, not politicians, stand up for free speech

While our politicians may shy away from protecting freedom of speech and human rights commissions may trample it, it's encouraging that judges still appreciate its importance. It helps that most judges are well versed in the subtleties of the law, like the part about this freedom applying to even buffoons. It's not explicitly spelled out in most legislation, which is perhaps why so many seem to miss it. via calgaryherald.

Everything Is Terrible! - CAN''T STOP PUNCHING! - 1:40 is my favorite scene.

I HIGHLY recommend seeing this whole film: 'Deadly Prey.' It's quite well known in the VHS fetish community, and for damn good reason! It's like Battle Royale meets Rambo meets Delta Force but somehow with more punching. It's the most fun I've had with my VCR since Andy and the Airwave Rangers... maybe. via everythingisterrible.com Whenever you can beat somebody to death with their own limb, that is a whole bunch of awesome in a can.

How MySpace Tested Their Live Site with 1 Million Concurrent Users - very cool

For MySpace, the goal was to test an additional 1 million concurrent users on their live site stressing the new video features.  The key word here is ‘concurrent’.  Not over the course of an hour or day… 1 million users concurrently active on the site. It should be noted that 1 million virtual users are only a portion of what MySpace typically has on the site during its peaks.  They wanted to supplement the live traffic with test traffic to get an idea of the overall performance impact of the new launch on the entire infrastructure.

Faye - dirt simple pub/sub for Rack and Node.js - very cool.

Two way communication in the browser isn’t easy. James Coglan brings aims to change that with Faye: Faye is an implementation of the Bayeux prototcol, a publish-subscribe messaging protocol designed primarily to allow client-side JavaScript programs to send messages to each other with low latency over HTTP. Essentially, Bayeux lets applications publish and subscribe to data in named channels, both in the browser and the server: via thechangelog.

Using Intelligence from the al-Mabhouh Hit | STRATFOR

Dubai’s police force has been steadily releasing new information almost on a daily basis, which has been driving the news cycle and keeping the story in the media spotlight. The most astounding release so far has been nearly 30 minutes of surveillance camera footage that depicts portions of a period spanning the arrival of the assassination team in Dubai, surveillance of al-Mabhouh, and the killing and the exfiltration of the team some 22 hours later.
